UW-SHEBOYGAN SOLAR SYSTEM AMBASSADOR
The Solar System Ambassadors Program is a public outreach program accomplished by motivated volunteers across the nation who communicate JPL's exciting discoveries and plans for future exploration to people in their local communities through a variety of ways.
The State of Wisconsin currently has 5 Solar System Ambassadors who can provide a valuable resource for schools, and public events. Information about these volunteers can be found at: http://www2.jpl.nasa.gov/ambassador/WI.html
Below are some images of past events in the Sheboygan area.
Over three hundred students, their teachers, and parents
took part in the 2005 ROCKETS-FOR-SCHOOLS event on FRIDAY, May
13th, and SATURDAY, May 14th at Sheboygan Blue Harbor. The weather on Friday did
not allow the launch of a SuperLoki, but students meet
a native Wisconsin astronaut named MARK LEE. There were many space-related displays.
Activities included a NASA bus, a zero-gravity drop-tower for experiments, a shuttle landing simulation exercise, a lunar lander simulator, and a photo-op in a space suit. Displays included a booth from ORBTECH. The Green bay based company has done work for the former Russian space station MIR. STENNIS SPACE CENTER had a demo on small rocket thrusters.
Rockets-for-Schools has been an annual event in Sheboygan since 1996. Join us in 2006.
