BUS 201, Introductory Accounting

4 credits, AP designation

The goal of this course is to orientate the student with the financial accounting information system.  Accounts and statements will be produced in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.  Students who successfully complete the course will be prepared for managerial, cost, and intermediate accounting, as well as corporate finance.

Topics covered include:

  • Journalizing and posting to the general ledger
  • Income Statement, Statement of Equity, and Balance Sheet
  • Valuation of Inventory
  • Long-term and Intangible Assets
  • Short and Long-Term Liabilities
  • Owner's Equity and Stock Transactions
  • Statement of Cash Flows
