 Missy Skurzewski

Missy Skurzewski started her work at UW-Sheboygan in the Fall of 2006.  She is the campus Athletic Director and Assistant Professor of coursework in Physical Education.  In addition, she is the Chairwoman of the campus Athletics Committee and member of the Safety and Aids/Awards/Appeals Committees as well.  To that end, she is a certified instructor for the American Red Cross responsible for teaching safety procedures and certifying students, faculty & staff, and the surrounding community members.

Skurzewski is a native of Milwaukee, where she graduated from Thomas More Catholic High School in 2000.  She went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ripon College in 2004, majoring in Exercise Science with minors in Health & Coaching.  In addition, she was a 4-year member of the Ripon College Women’s Basketball Team, and one of the senior captains of the 2004 Midwest Conference Championship Team that advanced to the 2nd round of the Division III NCAA Tournament that same year. 

Directly following her undergraduate studies, Missy returned to Milwaukee where she attended graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.  In 2006 she received a Master of Science Degree in Kinesiology from UWM, with study/research emphases in Sport Psychology, Exercise Physiology, and Biomechanics.  Also at UWM she was a Teaching Assistant for the Human Movement Sciences Department, and active in the Sport Psychology and Exercise Physiology Laboratories.

Missy is excited to continue her professional career development in athletic administration and collegiate-level teaching at UW-Sheboygan.  Along with pursuing extended goals as a faculty member and administrator, Missy is also currently working towards a Doctoral Degree in Leadership Studies within the School of Education at Marian College.

She currently resides in Sheboygan, but frequently visits a strong network of family and friends in the Milwaukee and Midwest area.  She has an older brother Billy (deceased), and a younger brother Joe who is currently a student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  Her mom and dad, Carol & Bill Skurzewski, still reside in Milwaukee with the family dog – a yellow lab named Jake.
