Luis Beltran
The University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan welcomed Luis Beltran as its new Co-Ed Soccer Team coach for the 2008-09 season. This fall will mark the second season the co-ed team has competed as part of the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference (WCC) and Wisconsin Junior College Athletic Association (WJCAA) tournaments. Beltran replaced coach Tim Romanello, who has accepted a coaching position out of state.
Beltran comes to UW-Sheboygan with years of experience playing soccer, which he has enjoyed since the fourth grade.
Currently, Beltran is a student at Concordia University in Mequon studying toward a degree in Education (emphasis in Spanish). After graduation, Beltran plans to continue to work toward his goal of becoming a pastor in the Lutheran Church.
According to Beltran, coaching the UW-Sheboygan team has provided him with the opportunity to grow his leadership skills and share his love of the sport with others.
“I think that playing sports is a great way to keep in shape and stay healthy, and sports are there to help our mind and body perform better both on and off the field,” Beltran said. “I want the team to work well as a unit and help the UW-Sheboygan soccer program progress.”
Beltran, who lives in Sheboygan Falls, said he plans to not only focus on helping his players develop strong soccer skills but also to be successful in the classroom.
“Playing should be fun and enjoyable, as well as part of our individual achievements that complement our work and studies with good discipline,” he added. |
