University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan

Music Department/Concerts

Campus performing ensembles are offered for credit and are open to all students with suitable prior experience. Ensembles include the University Chorus, which performs a winter and spring concert open to the public and performs in conjunction with other groups both on and off campus, and the Jazz ensemble, which offers small-group instrumental experience in collaboration with Lakeland College.

Concert Band, also in collaboration with Lakeland College, is offered on the Lakeland College campus for UW-Sheboygan students. Opportunities for solo performances are available to students in connection with ensemble concerts and in other local venues.

In addition to performance ensembles, non-major music students can choose from a comprehensive selection of classroom coursework in Music, including Music Appreciation, Jazz History, The History of Rock and Roll, and others. Online course options are also available.

For students planning for a future in professional music, UW-Sheboygan offers a full complement of courses for the first two years of a music major, as well as participation in the Guaranteed Transfer program within the UW System following completion of the associate degree. Major course offerings include first- and second-year Music Theory, Aural Skills, Applied Lessons (instrument or voice), Applied Piano and Ensemble Performance.

For more information on Music courses, please contact Choir Director Dr. Dan Vander Linden.
