DEVELOPMENTAL
MATHEMATICS ADMINISTRATIVE/COORDINATOR (50%)
WITH RELEASE TIME FOR
TEACHING (50%)

The Developmental Mathematics Coordinator will report to and
work with the Chair of the Department of Mathematics and appropriate department
committees.
The coordinator will have primary responsibility for the
following tasks:
- To
visit instructional academic staff on each campus at least once every two
years, monitor the UW Colleges developmental mathematics program and its
various implementations, continue to study course success rates, and to
prepare an annual written program summary with recommendations for
improvement.
- To
work with campus deans, department faculty and academic staff to improve
mathematics learning labs and to recommend efficient use of 136 funds to
support these activities. Areas may include:
- tutor
training;
- resource
materials including on-line tutorial services;
- staffing
development.
- To
serve as a departmental resource on developmental educational practices
and teaching techniques and to distribute relevant information to
instructional staff.
- To
facilitate communication between developmental course instructors and also
between department faculty and academic staff on campus and across
campuses by use of e-mail lists and a web homepage.
- To
serve as an assessment coordinator for the developmental mathematics
program, and to continue with the assessment of developmental math courses
in accordance with the UW Colleges assessment plan and recommend
improvements where necessary.
- To
facilitate professional development opportunities for academic staff
including workshops, and state and regional conferences.
- To
monitor the DE developmental courses and make recommendations for
improvement where necessary.
LECTURER
- To
teach 15 credits (5 courses) of developmental courses per year including
the development and teaching of an on-line course - the MAT 091 – each
semester.
