Learn About UW-Sheboygan
2007 UW-Sheboygan Foundation Annual Fund
Your donations mean more than you may think.
Each year, all of us receive letters and calls from organizations seeking donations. It seems today that everyone has a need and that list continues to grow.
The University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan Foundation is also seeking your support again this year, and we hope you will take the time to read this new newsletter to learn more about what is happening on the campus and how your donations are helping to make dreams come true for area students.
What sets our Foundation apart from many others is that our donors have the opportunity to see their gifts at work. Alumni, area residents and business owners all are welcome to visit the campus at any time or join us for our annual major fundraiser, Chicken & All That Jazz (set for August 8, 2007). Located conveniently off I-43 (and now highly visible from the Interstate), the UW-Sheboygan campus is an easy stop. We encourage all of our donors and alumni to visit soon to see the many changes that are ongoing at UW-Sheboygan, including the new Acuity Technology Center.
As Sheboygan’s community UW System campus, UW-Sheboygan offers students access to an affordable and high-quality education – and for many – a start on a new life and career. In addition to the many traditional age students (age 18-21) who enroll on the campus, more and more non-traditional or adult students (age 22 and up) are taking advantage of the resources that UW-Sheboygan offers.
For example, the UW-Sheboygan Foundation will award $20,000 in Education Grants next year to incoming freshman and continuing students. Several of those grants were awarded to adult students with families and those who are seeking re-training due to a job loss.
The UW-Sheboygan Foundation supports a diverse group of students, but they all share one thing in common: financial need. From the unemployed father to the high school graduate with only part-time income, these students look to us for support to make their college education dreams come true. That is where your generosity is so important.
As the request for assistance and the number of students turning to UW-Sheboygan for their education grows, your gift – whatever size it may be – is vital. While our annual fundraisers support many of the Foundation’s expenses, it is not enough. We rely on our donors (you!) to offer your financial support to these students.
Next year, the Foundation will increase its scholarship budget by another $7,000. This increase will provide for a $5,000 Information Resources Internship/Scholarship Program for the new campus library (located in the Acuity Technology Center) to train a student planning to pursue a career in Information Resources over a two-year period. The additional funding also will provide four $500 scholarships for students who have completed their associate’s degree and plan to transfer to a four-year institution to complete their bachelor’s degree.
Please consider a gift to the UW-Sheboygan Foundation this year, as your gift is more valuable than ever. UW-Sheboygan is YOUR campus. Inside this newsletter is a Contribution Card for your review. A gift of any size can make a difference. Thank you very much for your consideration. We look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
Dave Gass
President, UW-Sheboygan Foundation
