Junior Wombat Program kicks off
Members of the UW-Sheboygan Co-Ed Soccer Team welcomed the Sheboygan Falls Boys & Girls Club to the UW-Sheboygan campus on Thursday, Sept. 30 for the first-ever “Junior Wombat Program.”

The event offered the boys and girls the opportunity to tour the university campus, see the new Bookworm Gardens children’s garden and meet and train with members of the university soccer team.
A special treat for students was a visit by the UW-Sheboygan Wombat mascot, who watched eagerly as the students learned to dribble, pass and shoot on the soccer field.

The mission of the new Junior Wombat Program is to educate Sheboygan County youth on the importance of academic excellence, extracurricular activities, higher education and community involvement. Coordinators for the program include UW-Sheboygan AmeriCorps VISTA member Mike Lampe, Athletics Director Missy Skurzewski and Co-Head Soccer Coach Jon Gaumer.
