James Michael tribute exhibit to open June 7 at UW-S
Exhibit honors late artist

The Sheboygan community is invited to visit the University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan Fine Arts Gallery to view “Celebration of Life, Heritage Paintings by James Michael.” A very special opening reception for this exhibition honoring the late Dr. James Michael is scheduled for Thursday, June 7, from 5-7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Gallery. The public is welcome.
Dr. Michael retired early from medical practice to follow his passion for watercolor painting. For more than 30 years, he taught watercolor painting at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center and for several years at the Clearing in Ellison Bay, WI.
He exhibited locally and nationally, and became a signature member of the Wisconsin Watercolor Society, the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, the National Watercolor Society and the American Watercolor Society and has been the recipient of numerous awards. More than a thousand of his paintings hang in private and corporate collections, and many were donated to local charity benefit auctions.
This exhibition will be on display through June 29, 2012. The Fine Arts Gallery is open Monday-Thursday 9 a.m.-9 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and is located inside the Fine Arts Building at UW-Sheboygan.
