UW-S invites community to a Holiday MUSE concert Dec. 3
All area residents are invited to celebrate the holidays at the University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan for the special Holiday MUSE Concert (Musicians from the University Soloists and Ensembles), featuring the UW-Sheboygan Chorus and Jazz Ensemble, on Tuesday, December 3 beginning at 7 p.m. in the UW-Sheboygan Fine Arts Theatre.
Dr. Christy Talbott, UW-Sheboygan Assistant Professor of Music, will direct the UW-Sheboygan Chorus which includes students from the university as well as community members. Kathy Pedersen will accompany several numbers. Paul Sucherman, UW-Sheboygan Instructor, will direct the Jazz Ensemble.
This concert will feature the University Chorus in some traditional Christmas songs in Latin, French, and German, including Come Down, O Love Divine by Ralph Vaughan Williams, A la nanita Nana, made popular by the Cheetah girls, O Holy Night by Adolphe-Charles Adams, as well as an audience sing-along for Stille Nacht. Our small ensemble will perform a standard German carol, Leise Rieselt der Schnee, and will add some fun parodies of other carols.
Last year’s TAKE NOTE-ice Music Competition winner, Shoua Xiong, will perform a violin solo in the spirit of the season. The Jazz Ensemble also will help ring in the holidays with a number of uplifting and seasonal favorites.
Admission is $5 for adults, $1 for seniors, and FREE to students and children.
