University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan

Beginning and advanced French language courses offered at UW-S

Have you always want to learn another language? Always been fascinated with the French culture? Then why not learn the language!

The UW-Sheboygan Center for Engagement Learning invites area residents wishing to learn French to consider one of the several French language courses offered this spring, including French I with a focus on pronunciation, culture, and fun; French II with a continuation of learning; or French III for more advanced students.

French I offers a basic learning of vocabulary such days of week, numbers, colors, and telling time. French II continues from fall with learning more vocabulary, increasing fluency and obtaining grammar tools. Students will learn how to ask for information and directions and shopping for food in the market.

French III continues from the fall with the ability for students to talk about families, gifts, holidays and clothes. With completion of this course, students will have a solid foundation in French and be able to take French IV. All classes include participation in speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.

Debra Desmoulin, a certified French teacher, will serve as the instructor for all three courses. She has lived in France for 15 years and is enthusiastic about their language and culture. She travels yearly to France and currently is taking graduate level French literature courses at UW-Milwaukee.

French I will be offered on Wednesdays, February 9, 16, 23; March 2, 9, 16, 30; April 6, 13, 20, 27; May 4 from 6-8:00 p.m.

French II will take place on Tuesdays, February 8, 15, 22; March 1, 8, 15, 29; April 5, 12, 19, 26; May 3 from 6-8:00 p.m.
