University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan

New watercolor exhibit, “Celebration,” to open October 6

Sheboygan-area art lovers are invited to the latest art exhibit at the University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan, “Celebration,” which features watercolor paintings by local artists Phyllis Brillowski, Corrine Herrmann and Steve Weiss. The show opens Thursday, October 6 with a special opening reception with the artists from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Gallery.

This exhibit showcases the midlife painting careers of three Sheboygan County artists who have grown the past 20 years from virtual beginners to advanced practitioners of the challenging watercolor medium.

Paintings by each artist will be displayed chronologically so their development of individual and unique painting styles can be appreciated.

Brillowski, Herrmann and Weiss will be on hand at the opening to answer questions and to expand the why, where and how of their work. It should be a feast for the eyes, and an opportunity to appreciate the commitment to fine art painting as a second career by these accomplished painters. Much of the work will be available for sale.

All artworks will be on display through October 28. The Fine Arts Gallery is open Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and located inside the Fine Arts Building.

For more information on the show, contact Carrie Hoppe, Director of University Relations, at (920) 459-6612 or e-mail carrie.hoppe@uwc.edu.
