University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan

Forbidden Broadway auditions to be held Dec. 13

University Theatre will hold auditions for its 2013 Spring production, Forbidden Broadway, on Thursday, December 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre on the University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan campus. Check-in will be held in the FA Theatre lobby.

Forbidden Broadway spoofs many of your favorite Broadway musicals, both old and new, including Annie, Wicked, Fiddler on the Roof, and Rent. Crowds will be laughing throughout the evening, enjoying some new -- and only sometimes crude --lyrics to many Broadway classics.

Students and community members are encouraged to audition. You should prepare at least 32 bars of music, from a musical, that tells a story and shows off your comedic skills. Those planning to audition should also prepare a one- to two-minute comedic monologue that you may or may not be asked to present. We are looking for performers who are not only good storytellers, but who are energetic, willing to take risks, dedicated to the show, and overall good people who can take direction. Director Simon Provan and Music Director Paul Sucherman will be at the audition with casting authority.

Some roles have already been cast, but many are still available. Because of the nature of the show, we will be casting anywhere from four to 10 performers and the actual casting of roles will be determined after the company of the show has been cast. Rehearsals will begin in earnest on Monday, January 25, but performers will be expected to meet with Mr. Sucherman for on- on-one rehearsals before then. The show will run for five performances, March 7-10.

The UW-Sheboygan campus is located at One University Drive, just off Taylor Drive (between Indiana and Union avenues). The Fine Arts Theater is located adjacent to the East Parking Lot. You can learn more about UW-Sheboygan at www.sheboygan.uwc.edu.
